Everyone feels a little nervous. Here are some tips for public speaking:

1. Keep your sentences short and clear.

2. Use simple language and don't speak too fast.

3. Make eye contact - look at your listeners' eyes to see if they understand.

4. Ask questions and wait for them to answer you.

5. Speak loudly so people can hear you well.

6. My name is Kim, Yongjun from South Korea. I live in seoul which has been the capital city for more than 500 years. I think Seoul is a wonderful city that is mixed modern things with historical things.
There are many high buildings, cars, reserach centers, library, and so many modern things. Furthemore, we produce many high-technology things like computer chips.
In the center of Seoul, you can see historical things if you look around there. There are palaces that kings lived in. However we don't have a king anymore, so that place is one of the most famous tourist spot. The most famous place to foreigners is In-sa Dong because it's traditional road. There are a lot of shops that sells traditional souvenir, many restaurant that you can eat very delicious korean foods. I think you can treat the seller, you can get a bargain. We have a famous building such as Empire State Building here. The building is named the 63 Building. Do you know why? It's simple: that's because it has 63 floors. In the building, you can watch 3DMAX, aquarium and something else. The city is too crowded. There are more than 10 million people, so we have a housing problem. A surprising when I arrived here at first is that there is high buildings very rarely, and the houses that are called apartments are not high. It's not over 10 floors. In Korea, if we call a building an apartment, the building has at least 12 floors, at most 25 floors that I've ever seen. Seoul has good things and bad things such as like other cities. Even though it has some problems, I like my city, and if people want to come to Seoul, I can satisfy them. Come to Seoul, and enjoy it.

About parts of Korea

Let me introduce about Korea's traditional things. At first, It is the 'Hanbock'
The person on this picture is wearing the Korean clothes. Actually, it was more simple than now.
But nowadays, many designers make Hanbock
more beautiful and pretty.

This picture is about a 'gisaeng' who sang and danced in front of some rich people in the 1920's.
It is similar with 'Geisha' of Japan. Does Her hair look very heavy? It was a real hair. They used to grow their hair, raise it up and decorate with pretty decorations. Now they don't exist anymore, lots of directors want to make some movies about 'gisaeng'.

written by Saebom, Lee

arbus

Hi my classmate, look at this picture!!! I think it has 20 million habitants. Because of its population we have too much traffic all the time everywhere. I think that is the worst thing in Mexico.
But if we are talking about places to visit in the city, there are many!!....We have a sightseeing bus that takes you around all of the handmarks in the center of Mexico.
The picture on the right side shows you "El Zocalo" it is the center of Mexico City. This place is beautiful and very old, but it keeps very well.
There are also a lot of important and beautiful museums to visit like El Museo de Antropologia, where they keep many important things of the ancient different cultures.
The picture on the left side are the Piramids of Teotihuacan, another beautiful place to visit, this is about 40 min from Mexico City.
Its impossible to visit all of Mexico City, but the most important things are in the center and if you go you will enjoy also to go out and have dinner in a very important street called la Zona Rosa, they have a lot of different kinds of restaurants and bars.
You may also go there and have a coffee or any kind of sweets.
I live in the south of Mexico City and near my home are many places like markets and bazaars where you can find too many typic and cultural things of Mexico.

Visiting Boston Museum!-shizuko

I left for the museum around 2 o'clock yesterday. I had been notified to change at Copley to E line, but I had to get on one more station, Arlington and passed the stairs up and down , finally arrived there around 3:30. the museum is simple looking outside, but the display is marvelous. I was very surprised that so much Japanese art is stored there. One of the most impressive ones is "Lotus Pond " of Monet. The weather is good in most of the year, my city is sunny. In this moment, I wear a T-shirt with long sleeves and a sweatshirt, whereas my family wears a T-shirt without sleeves and short pants. I will tell you why: it is a city full of students, there are many universities, many museums, libraries, parks, movie theatres, restaurants, and sporting events like the Red Sox, and young people can find many interesting things to do here. A lot of things are free, or not expensive, (for example the Museum of Fine Arts is free on Wednesdays at 4 pm), and you don't need a car to get to these things!

You are lucky to study here.

Mary Ellen

This is our class website!
